Since November 2016, I traveled to Scotland, England, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Camdodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia... I might have stayed longest in Ireland. I might stay there more in the second half of this year. I shall soon quit Facebook. Maybe then I might upload more blog posts. There is a lot I can write about. We will see. Now reading you write about spiritual connectedness, my heart got so joyful and the mind grew so still. I'm observing Uposatha today, have read a couple of your posts (so wholesome and 'clean'), have meditated and now all I can say is I'm intensely happy to see you again. My utmost gratitude to all you've done for me in the past and may your sincere refuge in the Three Jewels be for the happiness of many. Oh, and I'm so glad that a fellow in the Dhamma knows about the ketogenic diet, the danger of sugar and carbs and who is not naïve about The Man :)
All the happiness in the world, Michael, may you be peaceful and consummate in true knowledge and vision.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-49083067332354068562016-09-10T06:51:46.887+12:002016-09-10T06:51:46.887+12:00Very well exposed, thank you!Very well exposed, thank you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-91626996005726888092016-09-09T11:24:04.116+12:002016-09-09T11:24:04.116+12:00This is beautifully written and really beneficial!...This is beautifully written and really beneficial! Thank you for reading the post...Dear Ms Wijesekera

Thank you for reading the post and expressing your wish to pilgrimage to Kukkutagiri. It is a very inspiring place. I remember it very fondly. I am keen to go there again. Perhaps I can visit again sometime in November-December this year.

Wasps are not as dangerous as men in Northern India. I recommend you take a few men in your group to escort the mainly female group.

I believe healthy women aged 50-60 can climb to the top. Some fat people might have difficulty squeezing their bodies through a short dark passage near the top. I am 183cm tall and larger than many Sri Lankan men. You might have seen photos of my body in other posts on my blog. I just squeezed though that passage.

Please take 3 litres of water for each person in your group. You might take a few small torches to guide yourselves through the dark narrow gap. I used the light in my smart phone.

If the local village men see your group, they may try to "guide" you and will request money for helping you. It would be good for your group to have Hindi speakers to negotiate with the locals. Do not allow any members of your group to be isolated or left behind anywhere. I recommend you stay together in groups of at least 10 people. If someone is tired, then others must stay with them until they recover or return to base. Be sure that someone in your group is guarding the vehicles parked at the village. Perhaps you will hire vans and drivers to take your group to the village near Kukkutagiri. There is a train, but I heard it is not reliable as hiring a bus or several vehicles. If you hire vehicles, and can afford it, get 4 wheel drive vehicles. The roads in that are very rough.

I didn't notice any wasps at all when I was there. I don't think wasps are disturbed by noise. They might be disturbed by smell of food or if people disturb their nests. Bees might be in the area. Wasps and bees are attracted to nectar in trees and flowers. I think November-December is relatively cold and maybe not the season for many bees or wasps. I am not sure though.

My direct email address is my surname at gmail.com

May your pilgrimage be successful. May you and the other pilgrims be happy, well and peaceful.
Michael Kalyaano

Kaliyukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06874443345638499944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-63293872616352618482016-01-11T18:49:19.245+13:002016-01-11T18:49:19.245+13:00It was really interesting to read your description...It was really interesting to read your description regarding the pilgrimage to Kukkutagiri. We are Sri Lankans who are disciples of Theravada Buddhism. We too are planning a pilgrimage to Kukkutagiri to worship Most Ven. Mahakassapa Thero.

I have some questions.

1. Our group consists of women around 50-60 age group but healthy. Will they be able to climb to the top?
2. I have heard that there are wasps inside the cave. Is it OK? As I got to know from your post your guides were noisy. Didn't they disturb the wasps? What I heard is you have to be quiet and calm when they are around.

I would appreciate if you could answer me.

May The Noble Triple Gem bless You!

Jayanthi Wijesekera
sujayanthi@gmail.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00621980516609818033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-90028071385588509902015-09-02T21:23:41.025+12:002015-09-02T21:23:41.025+12:00Greetings Wini Cyut, I went to Sri Lanka for more ...Greetings Wini Cyut, I went to Sri Lanka for more reasons than just finding a place to practice jhana. My lesson was guided spiritually I so far have learned detachment and now I am trying to learn ways to open up the heart to universal love. I would love to take a retreat to a monastery for a while. I have been craving that, time to meditate and seek myself in a secluded place. I have been doing some reading and meet someone who has helped me with some Buddhist learning. I am spiritual not Buddhist but I am taking the lessons in and learning. My last book was the Living Dhamma by Venerable Ajahn Chan which I believe he went to Wat Pa Nanachat as well. His book helped me learn. Book that I am reading now is the Tethered Soul. I have had great experiences with the spiritual world ever since I was young and I know I have a purpose and I believe it is Universal Love, however, I am trying to figure out how to use my gift. I Seen your post when I was searching the Wat Pa Nanachat. Glad to hear you had a great experience there. If I ever get the chance, I would like to spend some time there as well.youragemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00709339794827348374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-9669665437979279542011-06-14T13:03:05.255+12:002011-06-14T13:03:05.255+12:00YES!YES!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-89753804025844741812011-04-26T21:44:27.590+12:002011-04-26T21:44:27.590+12:00Hello,
I have still not finished reading ur posts...Hello,

I have still not finished reading ur posts which have good depth. Not many people have tried to delve in such depths.

You have rightly said that being a 'Buddhist' is diff from being a Buddhist 'expert'. This holds true with all ideologies. All ideologies have diverse streams. ..So, you are also right about diverse streams of Buddhism. However, personally, I like to stick to direct sayings of Gautam Buddha, with an eye on the context in which He said that.

Secondly, you know, there is an old saying in the spiritual world. When the seeker is ready and has the hankering the teacher arrives ! " Seek and ye shall find."-Jesus. ...... To realise the true meanings, one needs an Enlightend Living Master. This is provided by Nature the moment hankering comes. ........ Spirituality is a live world. Every single person gets a Living Teacher as per his hankerings & his needs which are as per the level of his evolution.

All diversities arrive at a unity in an Enlightened Living Master who becomes their convergence point. :-)

Warm Regards
Yashendraयशेन्द्र प्रसाद - Yashendrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16146139481665310368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-22841184622887537262011-04-26T20:08:48.439+12:002011-04-26T20:08:48.439+12:00Dear Mr Yashendra

I hope that your new film will meet your expectations of raising awareness of heritage issues among Indian people. Such a rich heritage! This is a priceless source of inspiration for all kinds of development, spiritual, intellectual and material. Well done! May you and other Indian people focus on Indian heritage and draw inspiration for living a compassionate and wise life now.

Australia may have abundant wealth in natural resources but this is paltry compared with the spiritual wealth of India. If only more people around the world realised the relative worth and know how to apply it in daily life.

The Buddhist experts and scholars are often not Buddhists themselves. They are usually historians, artists, anthropologists, geographers and such. The experts may not know how to manage a facility for the benefit of pilgrims of a living faith. Also Buddhism is diverse in practice and belief. Tibetan Buddhists do things differently to Japanese/ Chinese/ Indian Mahayana and Theravada Buddhists. How does one manage a facility for such diverse communities? A committee of traditions may be required.

I wish you success with your film making. Perhaps others may join you for a joint production. Thank you for your comments.

MichaelKaliyukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06874443345638499944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761669731882520812.post-64283875393329682832011-04-26T15:06:19.075+12:002011-04-26T15:06:19.075+12:00Dear Mr. Michael,

Well, if somebody wants to sponsor something he can contact the State govt. ...So far, I have not seen any entry fee. The premises is world class and, I suppose, some library/resource centre is also coming up. This is absolutely not for any commercial gain.

Whenever such a thing is done, Govt. seeks the help of Buddhist experts & scholars.

And, let me assure you, there is no clash in India over acceptance of Buddha and the crucial need to preserve the relevant souvenirs. This view transcends castes, creeds and isms.

What is lacking is the efforts of the officials. They do not do what they have been assigned to do. But its not just related to Buddha relating things, rather in all walks of life !

The descerations which you saw are due to local vested interests, hooligans and those young ppl who do not have any manners.
.....
My film will also document a large of no. of places which have been forgotten and are in neglected state.

Through the film I want to create an awareness and to propel people to safeguard these places and the heritage of Buddha. It will be a 2part ( 60 mts each) documentary which we are making with our private meagure resources. Initially, I had thought of raising sponsorship from Japan etc, but shelved the idea after the disaster struck Japan.

Thanks & Warm Rgds
Yashendraयशेन्द्र प्रसाद - Yashendrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16146139481665310368noreply@blogger.com
